Pass the time blogging? There are thousands of bloggers out there that would cringe, shiver and break out in a cold sweat from the idea that blogging was just a “past the time” sort of thing. These are the people who take blogging super seriously! They multitudes of sites. They link to each other and they place ads on them. They’re looking to make money from ads, promote products and push their business.
Blogging As A Hobby
Regardless of what “those people” think, though, many people blog just for the pure enjoyment for it. And I’ll tell you a secret, too: Many of those guys and gals that take their blogging seriously actually do so for a hobby as well. They just don’t tell people about it.
Many people who choose to start making money blogging don’t start out with that intent at all. Instead they being doing so just for the pure enjoyment. They wanted to write and be read. They wanted to see their words on the computer screen. Lots of online writers start out in this way and many won’t delete their original blogs. They’ll just secretly keep placing content on their first online endeavors without telling anyone.
Money Or Joy, Just Do You!
It can be frustrating for new bloggers trying to get advice on their sites and “best practices”. 95% of all search queries for “blogs” or “blogging” revolve primarily around “making money”, “building internet marketing email lists” and “driving traffic”.
Very few online articles have to do with making websites more aesthetically pleasing or easier to read. Well, I take that back. There are lots of those articles but they are all aimed at optimizing sites for making more money.
What about the people who just want to experience the pure joy or creative release or blogging? I say it doesn’t matter what the heck your site looks like! Just do you!
If you want to write in German on a US site then do it! If you want to write about umbrellas but only pictures of cute, little lap dogs on your site, then do it! This is your passion! This is your way of “passing the time” and this is your hobby! No one can tell you how to best enjoy your passions and desires. There will be people out there who think they can but don’t let them.
Who knows? In a while you might find that you like the look of ads on your site… There are so many ways your time can be spent.
